A Christmas Cards Means the World to a Soldier

You may not realize the power of a Christmas or Holiday card. However, if you've ever been away from your family for the holidays, you may know how much it can mean.

A Christmas Card Means the World to a Soldier

I start watching Hallmark Christmas movies the morning after Halloween. They fill me with happiness, love, and hope. You see to me, Christmas is a feeling. People tend to be happier, kinder, and just full of love, especially this time of the year. One of mine and Liam's favorite movies is The Christmas Card.

In case you haven't seen it, Faith sends cards to soldiers every holiday season. Her card touches one soldier so much, that when he's placed on medical leave, he goes to that town. I'm not going to tell you the rest, so you'll have to watch it to see what happens. However, my point is that soldiers really do love to get cards and letters of love and encouragement. Especially for the holidays. So why not make them feel loved and thanked from across the miles?

You Will Need Some Note Cards

To get started, you will need some holiday (or any cards.) I chose these ones from Amazon. I picked them because I loved the whimsical images, and also because the inside of the cards are completely blank. That leaves you and your children plenty of room to write kind words and thoughts. Thanksgiving is this week, so what better way to show your thanks than to the men and women whom keep our country free.

Where to Send

There are lots of posts going around on Facebook that give the address to Walter Reed Medical Center for sending cards. However, that address is now defunct and any and all items sent will come straight back to you. I know this for a fact because Liam and I received all of our back a few years ago. I have done some research since then, and I have found other sites that will gladly take your cards of kindness. Check them out:

Celebrate the Four Legged Heroes too!

I can't believe the 4th of July has come and gone already. (For us, we aren't celebrating until this weekend.) However, we should be thankful each and every day for the sacrifices of the men and women that have fought or are still fighting for our freedoms. You know who else we should thank? The canine military companions.

Celebrate the Four Legged Heroes too!

Did you know that dogs serve in our military too? Many canines are on the front lines with the brave men and women that work tirelessly to keep us safe. Not only do they do things like search for landmines and explosives, they're train to search for drugs, and enemies as well. While they've been serving us for decades, they weren't officially recognized for their services until World War II.

There are currently over two thousand five hundred dogs in service to our country. Seven hundred of those faithful canine soldiers and companions are overseas. So while you're remembering fallen heroes, or thanking current ones, take a moment to be thankful for their canine counterparts as well.

Say Thank You

If you're looking for a way to say thank you, and give back. Why not make up a canine care package for a military dog. The United States War Dogs Association does just that. (Here's a full list on their website. You can even send items to their handlers too.

One of the items they're looking for is dog treats that are made in the USA. Blue Buffalo Red, White and Blue Bars are a great snack for any dog, and absolutely perfect for canine military members. They even look like our American Flag, and are made right here in the United States of America, so they're a perfectly patriotic treat!

Treat Your Four Legged Babies to a Patriotic Treat

While your fur baby may not be trained to sniff out narcotics or bombs, they're still your best friend. So why not give them a tasty treat that they will love, and that's good for them too! I guarantee you they will love the Red, White and Blue Bars froom Blue Buffalo.

Like all Blue Buffalo products, these tasty goodies are free from corn, soy, wheat, and poultry by products. They're made from all natural ingredients too. I just got a bag from Chewy.com and though I know my girls will love them, I am putting them aside.

We're going to gather up some needed items on the donation list for both dogs, and handlers, and send them in to US War Dogs. I taught myself to crochet in March, and I'm already working of some all cotton towels and washcloths for service members and their canine counterparts.

Charge Devices in One Hundred and Fifty Countries

If you or someone you love is getting ready to travel abroad, then you have to grab this Achoro Travel Adapter. With three different sockets it's sure to fit any outlet you encounter on your travels.

Charge Devices in One Hundred and Fifty Countries

I have yet to leave the country, but having friends in various ones, I know how much our outlets differ. That means if you're traveling abroad, your typical USB chargers are going to be useless. That's where the Achoro Travel Adapter comes in.

This adapter has three different socket types that can easily be slid out for use. When you need to switch to a different type, just slide one back in, and slide another out! It's really that easy! The plugs will work in the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia.

Three USB Ports and One C Type Port

The Achoro Travel Adapter has three USB ports to charge various smart devices simultaneously. It also comes with a C Type Port. Many newer devices are upgrading to USB C Type ports, so you'll have a port for any device that you own.

Safe to Use

The Achoro Travel Adapter also has a built in fuse. You can feel safe knowing that the fuse will trip before an electrical fire can spark. It also comes with a spare fuse, so you won't be caught off guard in a new country.
