    The holder is actually in four pieces. You have the base that holds the can or bottle. One top goes on top of a can, and seals it so soda or beer doesn't leak out when you drink. If you're using a bottle, then place the bottle top on top of that. Last but not least, there's a rubber lid. This works as two things. First of all, it has a bottle opener built in. So no need to worry if you forgot one at home. Secondly, you can place it over the top of your bottle to keep flies and bugs out. For me this is huge.
