Festive Treats for Your Feline Friends

Tis the season! I love summer, but it feels so wonderful to finally be able to say that. (Christmas is my jam y'all!) When shopping for the holidays, we can't leave out our fur babies. So today we're going to highlight treats for our feline friends.

Festive Treats For Our Feline Friends

Our cute kitty is technically my "granddaughter." Liam rescued her as a sickly feral baby, and insisted she would be his baby. He takes very good care of his sweet girl, and we are all so thankful for his dedication to saving her precious life. So he's very proactive when it comes to making sure she gets special gifts for the holidays. As a matter of fact, he is the one who chose Temptations Holiday Dinner Treats for her. However, upon seeing them, he immediately opened them up, and started spoiling her. So I guess we'll need to get more for under the tree!

As she was devouring them he told me a couple of things he liked about them.

"Mama! I love this container! When the treats are gone, we use it to store other treats." Clara happens to love Temptations treats, but Liam struggles with the bags. Due to his fine motor difficulties he sometimes can't get them open, and rarely can get them closed. So for him, this Stay Fresh Pack was a huge selling point.

"These treats are Christmas colors!" Indeed they are. Temptations Holiday Dinner Treats are reddish and greenish in color, making them very festive for the season. They're also flavored with turkey and sweet potato, just like a holiday dinner!

Crispy, Crunchy, and Soft

Temptations Holiday Dinner Treats are crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The crunchy layer is designed to keep your cats teeth clean. It helps to scrape tartar and plaque from their pearly white teeth. The soft and meaty inside is yummy and irresistible to pawfect little pets! (We have to keep the dogs away when we give these treats to the cat,  or else they will sneak and eat Clara's Temptations before she can gobble them all up!)

These treats are less than two calories each, so they're perfect for all cats. Use them as a snack or reward. You can even use them in place of cat food. A quarter cup of Temptations can replace a quarter cup of other dry cat foods.

Our sweet Clara gives Temptations Holiday Dinner Treats TWO PAWS UP and we know your feline friends will too. So head to Chewy.com and grab some for the holidays. You might want to grab extra though! ;)

Puffy Pumpkin Cookies

Since we’re on a pumpkin spice kick, I want to share my other new recipe with you all. Again, I designed this recipe for my fur daughters, but it’s human friendly (and tasty) as well. With only 6 ingredients, it’s super easy too! So let’s get baking!

Puffy Pumpkin Cookies

I love creating new recipes for my entire family. One of my goals is to mak
them healthy, taste good, and use very little ingredients so they are easy to make
This recipe is no exception. You only need 6 ingredients and I’m willing to bet
you have most of them, if not all of them in your house. Like the other recipe,
this one calls for pureed pumpkin. I usually have this on hand for baking, but
make sure it’s just 100% pumpkin. (It’s better that way!) I’m ready to get started,
so let’s go!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • ¾ cup Kind Granola (you can use any brand, but we are partial to Kind)
  • ¾ cup Pureed Pumpkin
  • ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
  • ¼ cup Coconut or Olive Oil (This is amazing for skin and heart health too!
  • 1 ½ cups of Flour

Preheat your oven to 400°. Mix the first five ingredients well. Then slowly mix in flour.
Once you have it all mixed well, grease your cookie sheet. Drop your dough by rounded
teaspoons onto the pan. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool.

That’s all there is to it! Using teaspoon sized cookies, this recipe will yield about three dozen
tasty treats. Like I said, humans and fur babies will love them. But remember, because these
are all natural, there are no preservatives. Therefore you should store them in your fridge.
If you want to keep them more than a week, then freeze them. Just thaw when you’re ready to enjoy.

Pumpkin Spice Granola Bites

Fall is right around the corner. Since I just got my girls some pumpkin Spice Greenies, it got me thinking that I needed to create some autumn treats for them as well. This fall inspired granola recipe is easy, and best of all, since it’s made with all natural ingredients, it’s not just a dog treat. This recipe can double as human treats too.

Pumpkin Spice Granola Bites

Granola is super tasty and amazing for you as well. The oats are full of fiber, so they help lower cholesterol and can even prevent diabetes. The nuts and seeds in Granola are chock full of unsaturated fats which are good for your ticker too. It’s also good for your four legged family too! Which is why you’ll notice I incorporate it into almost all of our treat recipes. If you love all things pumpkin spice, then this recipe is for you! You can whip it up in no time, and your kids, as well as fur kids are going to love it! So let’s get started.

.First, preheat your oven to 375°. You’re going to toast your regular oats, and a few ingredients before you get into actually making the granola. Here’s what you’ll need.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ½ cups Oats
  • ¼ cup of Coconut Oil (Olive or Vegetable Oil will work too)
  • 1 ½ tsp of Cinnamon

Mix these three ingredients together, then spread them out into a baking pan. In total you will bake these are 375° degrees for 25 minutes. However, have your phone handy to set a timer. Stir them around every ten minutes so they don’t burn. After the full twenty five minutes, remove them from the oven and turn it down to 300°.

While your oats are toasting, gather and combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl. You will need:

  • 1 cup Kind Granola
  • ⅓ cup Pureed Pumpkin (canned works great, but make sure it’s JUST pumpkin.)
  • ⅓ cup Brown Sugar
  • ¼ cup Honey

Pour your toasted oats into the mix, and stir well. Next grab your bar pan. I use my handy silicone pan that makes little square bites. Press the mixture in, and bake at 300 for 30 minutes. (You can bake these longer if you want them crunchier, but keep an eye on them as noone wants burnt granola.

If you’re using a bar pan, let them cool for about ten minutes, then cut them into bars. Don’t wait too long or you will have a huge mess of crumbs!

That’s it. How easy is that? With only 7 ingredients, you just created a yummy and healthy treat for your loved ones! These Pumpkin Spice Granola Bites taste amazing. My sister and I and my dogs love them, and I know your family will too.

Yields 3 dozen in my square treat pan

(Side Note: Since this recipe does call for sugar, only give your dog a treat or two ((depending on their size)) per day. You don’t want to give them too much, no matter how much they love them.)

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Yes, my dogs are basic too. They adore pumpkin spice anything, much like everyone else. (Except me.) So when I saw that Greenies has limited edition bones in that flavor, I was all over it.

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Greenies bones really are the best way to rid your baby of horrendous dog breath. We never let our girls run out of them. These dental treats help to work off stinky plaque and tartar. They keep both at bay, while also making your dog's smile healthy, and smelling fresh too! This is huge for us, because Josie will NOT let me brush her teeth. So to say her breath gets fusty is an understatement.

However, Bayleigh loves to have her teeth brushed. She waits by the sink every night at bedtime to get her chompers cleaned. I still give her Greenies though because they get back to the teeth I can't always reach. Besides that, I can't give her sissy a treat, and not her!

Since Fall is right around the corner, Greenies has released their Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice Dental Dog Treats. They are made using REAL pumpkin and pumpkin spice flavoring. (You can even smell it when you open them.) My girls go bonkers for them, and we know your fur babes will too!

Why Greenies?

Another of the many reasons we love Greenies is because they are good for our girls. Their bones are formulated with all natural ingredients. The texture helps scrape the nasty stuff from your dogs teeth, and they just think they're eating a yummy bone! Even Vets recommend Greenies for your fur babies. They're approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council, and even made right here in the good old United States of America. (Pssst, they make cat treats too, which our little Clara loves as well!)

So whether or not your fur child lets you brush their teeth, Greenies are the perfect treat. You will feel wonderful knowing that you're giving them something that's all natural and good for them. They will be ecstatic because they're getting a super yummy treat. It's a win win!

American Made, Tasty Treats for Your Dogs

If you're a pet owner, you've probably heard about not giving your dogs treats from outside of America. So today I want to tell you about some tasty treats that your dogs will love.

"Mom, stop taking pictures, and give me these treats!"

American Made

If you're wondering why you should only give your dog American made treats, the answer is simple. The Food and Drug Administration. The FDA regulates our foods, as well as the foods and treats that we give our dogs. However, they can only regulate the items that are made right here in our country. Thus the reason we should only give our fur babies food and treats made right here. Besides, it also helps our economy.

Tasty Treats for Your Dogs

One of my girls' favorite treats are from American Journey. Well, I shouldn't say one, because they have a bunch of different flavors, and my fur daughters love them all. You can choose from Peanut Butter, Chicken, Lamb, Salmon, and Turkey. They're currently noshing on their Peanut Butter ones, and they just got a bag of the Lamb recipe too.

Using real lamb as the number one ingredient, they then add in yummy veggies and fruits. There's sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, blueberries and apples. I don't know about you, but that sounds amazing to me!

American Journey

American Journey has a full line of treats and foods for your canine and feline besties. They offer grain free meals and treats that have no preservatives, artificial colors, flavors, and no poultry by products. You can choose from dry meals, or canned dog or even cat food. They also have crunchy treats, or jerky treats for your canine besties! All made with quality ingredients, right here in the United States of America!

This is Josie. She's asking for MORE American Journey treats!

Get them at Chewy.com

As with all of the products that we purchase for our fur daughters (and fur granddaughter) we get our American Journey treats from Chewy.com. They have a wide selection of items for pets of all kinds. Their prices are amazing and their customer service is fantastic!

A Sizzling Summer for Your Pooch

My girls are happy it's summer. Josie loves to bask in the sun, while Bayleigh loves to swim and play in the water. They're two very different dogs, but can agree on one thing. That's their love for Chewy.com. They are helping my girls have a sizzling (and tasty) summer!

A Sizzling Summer for Your Pooch

On Friday we were at the creek. Josie was sunbathing, and Bayleigh was swimming with her boy. I saw the FedEx truck come in and new what was coming. All I had to do was say, "Girls, your Chewy order is here," and they were ready to go.

I knew they were about to be even more happy when they saw what was in that box! That's because I ordered them the new Blue Buffalo Sizzlers. A healthy, canine friendly alternative to bacon.

A Natural Alternative That's Yummy and Healthy

Blue Buffalo Sizzlers are made with real pork. In fact, it's the number one ingredient. They also added vitamins and minerals so it's not just tasty, but good for your pooch as well. There's also oatmeal and skim milk in the Blue Buffalo Sizzlers. How awesome is that?

Guess what Sizzlers don't have? They don't have chicken or any poultry by products. There's no corn, wheat or soy, which is great for the fur babes with food allergies. Oh, and there's also no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

What Do My Girls Think?

Check out the video above. I don't think I need to tell you that I couldn't even get the bag open fast enough for them. Poor Josie just couldn't contain herself and wait! They get a treat every morning while I'm making my coffee, and then in the evening. This is how she behaves when I ask if she wants a Sizzler. So, my girls definitely give Blue Buffalo Sizzlers and Chewy.com, two BIG and two little paws up!

Does Your Fur Baby Scoot?

If you're a pet mom or dad, then you may have noticed your fur son or daughter doing the "scoot." That's where they are rubbing their rears across your floor. They do this because their anal glands are not emptying properly. That's where Glandex comes in.

Does Your Fur Baby Scoot?

If so, then they have an anal gland problem. Dogs "scoot" when their anal glands are inflamed. It's more common among small and medium sized dogs, however large dogs and cats can also have the same issue.

So what is the "scoot?" This is when dogs (or cats) drag their rear end across the carpet or ground. They do so because their anal glands have not been emptying properly and are either impacted or infected.

What Causes the Scoot?

Many things can contribute to a dog's anal glands not emptying properly. But it basically boils down to their bowel movements. When a bowel movement is solid enough, it will naturally press against the anal glands so they can empty properly. However, since diet can affect their BM, causing it to not be firm enough, the glands won't naturally empty. These secretions build up and become impacted. (Gland trauma, or deeper set glands can also contribute to scooting.)

If your dog has this problem, then at times an oily and very foul smelling substance may be secreted. You'll know what it is because it has the most awful rotten fish type smell. It's disgusting and enough to gag you. But don't worry because Glandex is here to help!

Glandex Boots the Scoots!

I first discovered Glandex through my parents. Their frenchie Benson, has anal gland issues like my Josie. Their vet actually recommended Glandex for him. He's been on it for months, and hasn't had any issues with his anal glands. Before taking Glandex, they would have to either express it themselves, or take him to Dr. Joan to have it done. (Let me tell you, it's gross, and you would definitely want the vet to do it.) But who wants to take their fur baby to the doctor all the time?

I don't, and neither do my parents, and I'm guessing you don't want to either. Which is why you need Glandex. If your dog or cat scoots, you can help them. It comes in tasty Peanut Butter Chews, or Beef Flavored Powder.

Easy to Give, and Pet Love it

My Josie is super picky, and adding anything to her food causes her to turn her nose up. She automatically knows its medicine and will refuse to eat. So for her, I use the Glandex Peanut Butter Chews. She loves them and thinks they are a snack. Just one a day (for her size) and she no longer scoots, or leaves stinky gunk on our furniture or floor.

Benson loves the Beef Flavored Powder. He actually won't eat unless you put something into his food. (He has a special food he has to eat for allergies.) So for him, my mom and dad add some Glandex to his food once a day. He no longer scoots, and doesn't have to have his anal glands manually expressed.

My family swears by Glandex, but don't just take our word for it. Try it for yourself!

Put Something Tasty and Healthy in Their Baskets This Year

Ahh Easter! A candy gorging holiday. Many people give up candy and sweets for Lent, so they tend to over indulge in this very holy day. But this year you can put something in their baskets that isn't only tasty, but it's healthy too. It's a win win for everyone!

Put Something Tasty and Healthy in Their Baskets This Year

I don't know about you, but in years past, I have put more small toys and items than treats in my family's baskets, because I wasn't comfortable cramming it full of sugary candy. But this year I stumbled upon on some tasty treats that don't just taste amazing, but they're much better for you than traditional candy.

Dark Chocolate Lovers Unite!

My husband and I happen to adore dark chocolate. It's one of our favorite treats. So when I came across Sweet Valley Organics, I was stoked. They have Organic Dark Chocolate Snack Bites that are to die for! Sweet Valley Organics takes fruits and nuts, and covers them in yummy dark chocolate. With fresh organic ingredients, you get the best of both worlds with these sweet snacks.

Choose from Chewy Bananas, Tart Cherries, and Sea Salt Caramel Cashews. Or you can pick Sea Salt Toffee Almonds, and Cinnamon Praline Pecan. All of which include a dark chocolate covering. Holy yum! Grab some for your family's Easter baskets today!

Nut Brittle That Won't Wreak Havoc on Your Teeth

I LOVE peanut brittle. What I don't love is how hard it is to eat! Which is where Softer Than Brittle comes in. Using a copper kettle, they create small batches of tasty, nutty confections that are even better than traditional brittle. And they're SOFT!

You can choose from Softer Than Brittle Peanut, Cashew, Pecan, and Almond. They're all fantastic so I suggest one of each! Even better than that is, Softer Than Brittle is Gluten and Dairy free, as well as being free of preservatives, cholesterol, and hydrogenated oil. Oh and it's Vegan too! You can eat something that tastes fantastic, and not feel guilty about!

Something Salty for Their Basket

I love snack mixes. Perhaps one of my favorite brands is Route 66 from Redstone Foods. They have four snack mixes that are amazing! I'm currently noshing on their Santa Fe Adobe snack mix. It's the perfect mix of sweet and spicy which included Redskin Peanuts, Hot Cajun Corn Sticks, Honey Sesame Chips, Corn Nuggets, and Pepitas (pumpkin seeds) all covered in Chipotle seasoning.

Oh, and check out their soda pops to wash down their snack mixes! They have root beer, cream, cherry, blue raspberry and more. (Check out their selection of candy too!) They'd all make perfect additions to any Easter basket!

Don't Let Allergies Consume Their Coat Give Them SeaMeal

Our sweet Josie Joy has bad skin allergies. However, she refuses the meds from the vet, and will bite if you try to force them into her. (She's quite old, so there's no point in making her upset.) Which is where Solid Gold Supplements comes in. Thanks to Chewy.com we discovered these tasty treats that help our sweet girl feel better!

Don't Let Allergies Consume Their Coat - Give Them SeaMeal

If you're like us, and you have a fur baby that has skin allergies, you know how frustrating it can be. We don't want them to be miserable, but fighting them to take meds is exhausting. Not anymore! Solid Gold Supplements SeaMeal supports healthy skin and coats. It also works from the inside out!

Many skin allergies start in the stomach. These tummy issues, lead to skin problems, which creates a vicious cycle for your pet. These SeaMeal Skin & Coat, Digestive Immune Health Soft Chews Grain Free Dog Supplements from Solid Gold Pets, work with digestive enzymes in the stomach to help your pet maintain a healthy digestive system.

Made with USA sourced seaweed, they work to heal and help your fur babies coat. Seaweed is rich in vitamins, amino acids, and antioxidants. All of which help to support healthy fur and skin. After all, a dog that feels good, looks good and is happy. Which is all any of us want as pet parents!

Ignore the pet hair on the couch. In this house, no outfit is complete without some dog and cat hair on it ;)

I love Solid Gold Supplements! Not just because they work, but also because my sweet Josie thinks they're a treat, and readily gobbles them up. Her coat already looks better, and we've noticed that she spends less time itching, and more time rough housing with her feline niece. It's a wonderful feeling to see your old dog act like a puppy again.
